Prominent South Florida Attorney Edward M. Ricci Appointed to Georgetown University Board of Regents

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL. – Georgetown University President, Dr. John DeGoia recently announced the appointment of consumer advocate and attorney, Edward M. Ricci, to the Georgetown University Board of Regents, one of the two primary boards that advise the President and University administration on policy and operations. Mr. Ricci’s appointment is for a three-year term.
Edward M. Ricci the senior partner of the Palm Beach Gardens, FL based law firm of Ricci~Leopold, graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1973. He has been a leader in providing Georgetown scholarships to deserving students from South Florida to his alma mater for many years. Mr. Ricci and his wife, Judge Mary Lupo, created the Lupo-Ricci professorship in Clinical Juvenile Studies at Georgetown, one of the only of this type in the United States (the other being at Columbia University and held by Professor Jane Spinak, Mr. Ricci’s cousin).
Mr. Ricci is nationally recognized for his expertise in automotive crash worthiness, insurance bad faith and managed care litigation. He has for decades been profiled in a number of prestigious publications that profile the best attorneys in America. He earned the Florida Bar Board of Certification, the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar for his competency and experience as a civil trial attorney.
The Ricci~Lupo family has a long standing history of scholarship and philanthropy at Georgetown University which spans three generations, seven family members and nine graduate and doctorate degrees. In addition to his law degree from Georgetown, Mr. Ricci earned his master’s degree from The John Hopkins University through a Ford Foundation Fellowship.
